Luminex introduces BSI CTMS for clinical trials management

Luminex Corp based out of Austin, Texas will be working with BSI CTMS for clinical trials management. The project will involve setting up a standard interface to IBM® Clinical Development that Luminex is already using.

Luminex is set to become the pilot customer for the standard interface between IBM Clinical Development and BSI CTMS. The go-live of BSI CTMS for Luminex is expected in June 2020. IBM Clinical Development is IBM’s proprietary electronic data capture (EDC) solution designed to provide end-to-end visibility as well as contains patient, site, and clinical trial management capabilities.

“The BSI CTMS solution is impressive in its own right, thanks to its intuitive usability, broad functionality, and value. We expect to reap rewards in the areas of trial oversight, site monitoring, and document management with the integrated eTMF function. It was also the opportunity to map the CTMS with IBM Clinical Development - the existing EDC solution - that swung the decision in favor of BSI CTMS,” said Deena Eden, Senior Manager of Clinical Operations at Luminex.

“Luminex has used IBM Clinical Development to run several trials to date. Its ease of use and intuitive interface made the capture of clinical trial data seamless, which drastically improved data quality and reduced trial time,” commented Bhavna Adhin, Manager of Statistics, Programming, and Data Management at Luminex. The interface is expected to be a valuable option for future clients going forward.

“With this interface we are only adding to the attractiveness of BSI CTMS for prospective clients,” commented Jan Nielsen, BSI’s Community Manager for Life Sciences. “The ability of the EDC - IBM Clinical Development - to exchange data with BSI CTMS creates a solution that is far more than simply the sum of its parts, and and is expected to help us drive our business goals,” he continued.

“We look forward to collaborating with Luminex and BSI CTMS to effectively plan and manage trials,” said Sébastien Bohn, Offering Manager, Lead for IBM Clinical Development, IBM Watson Health.

IBM Clinical Development is designed to reduce the time and cost of clinical trials by: i) centralizing and organizing clinical trial details; ii) providing 24/7 access to clinical trial data via a single URL from any web-enabled device; and iii) providing a flexible and scalable data management platform to help design and manage clinical trials by incorporating optional clinical trial-specific features and services.
